Why Do Union corporations endorse TT?

more pertinent to ask - the function of unions is to protect the interests of the workers - usually to refer to the rank n file workers. Since when it is the business of unions to give endorsement to a president? How come during the last GE, there is no endorsement for the MPs?

Secondly, did the union members vote unanimously to endorse a certain candidate - an AGM was called? Or it is the respective union leaders who vote? Or there was no vote at all?

What does the President have to do with fighting for interests of the unions? If anybody, shouldn't it be the labour minister? Why didn't the unions lobby the government on the choice of the Labour Minister?

Last but not least, I read with interest that NTUC decided to allow their component unions to freely endorse their own candidate - why? Faced with dilemma between endorsing TKL and TT?

This "endorsement" stuff is all just nonsense with the union chiefs trying to play king-maker. If TT comes in, they can take credit and hope that certain issues TT will side them, if and ever.

The big display picture of the endorsing union chief in ST today was to encourage more unions to come out - ST will show their pictures. In the first place, how the hell are they even going to "count" how many votes they can deliver?

The whole exercise is just to boost their own egos.

Does it mean that the Union members have no choice but to vote for TT, isn't that vote buying? Can they vote without fear for other candidates, now that their so-called leaders have endorsed TT???

Union leaders are endorsed by either NTUC, PA or the PAP. Only the Singapore Pilot Association are independent.
