Who rides a roadie, hybrid or mountain bike here

I know couple of folks here having been cycling for quite sometime. Anyone else?

I do encourage it as it builds fitness, low impact on joints and people in their 70s can even handle the fast speed group. There are places where you can cycle safely as well. Not keen on commuting to work though as things can be dicey.

E bikes are the latest craze here. We now have a former roadie with health issues who joins our group rides and can set the sizzling pace of about 38 to 40kph while the rest of us sit on.

He had given up riding with us until his e-bike came along.

What happens when his e juice runss out after 25km and the group has 80km to go

Its picking up here as well but not with the roadies, more for transport. I am actually surprised by the number of older folks aged 60 over picking up roadies for the first time. And they can be competitive. Some have realised that there is more to life than Tai Chi.

His range at that pace is about 70 km. Our ride is 60km.

He does not come for the longer rides.

Very few e bikes have 70km range,40km is considered very good already.and those things are heavy as hell, battery pack alone can be as heavy as a entire road bike.good luck peddling without juice.the 300 watt motor does most of the pushing

He has to pedal like hell. The motor provides about 100 watts in Eco mode. He provides 180 watts. The combined 280 watts gives a velocity of about 35 to 40 kph depending upon the wind conditions.

Good on him. Some of them give up when the hills become difficult and this is much needed salvation.

Not surprised bro

If you haven't got it get the saddle that are narrow and with the cavity in the centre. The sit bones are on the saddle and less pressure on the rest of the arse. Padded lycra does help as well.

Heard that due to the constant pressure on the perineum, it can cause ED (or infertility?)...
