Mine is only 30 plus Mbps (wireless) although I sign up for the 100 Mbps fibre optics plan. The technician could achieve 70 plus Mbps when he installed the modem a few months ago and he said that should be the speed for wireless. So called up Singtel and the lady technician could not solve the problem after an hour on the phone. Even try to BS me saying that 30 plus Mbps is 'normal' and said that it could be due to 'interference' but she could not even name even one thing that can cause an 'interference'. So now lan lan has to get a technician down for onsite inspection this week.

So what's your internet speed? Any difference with different service provider?

The advertised theoretical speed is referring to accessing local websites. Overseas websites will never achieve such speeds.

Most people only 10%.

Slow Mobile Speed

Normally, people complain about mobile internet speed. It's probably getting worse. Many people hated M1.

Cable one, got problem meh ? If you can see YouTube without the fetching sign (image stop) appearing is consider good enough.

I test it with the Singnet speed test utility and also get the same speed. Yes I know there's a difference between overseas and local website but you should get about the same speed if you are using a speed test tool.

My speed is pretty fast but that's not the issue. The issue is that I'm paying for the 100 Mbps package and the technician did achieve 70-75% of the speed using the same speed test tool and my laptop during installation. So what happened after that? The Singnet technical support also knew something was wrong or else they won't send a technician down.

Mine no diff. Good. Maybe, you cannot use too high. The international gateway cannot cope.

As long as I can watch YouTube, it's considered as good enough. Unless, you play those hi-res 3D games or downloading many video files as mp4.

I pay as little as possible for the best results - efficiency, value for money. I'm not going to make them filthy rich. So many mp4 also have no time to watch. :p

The promise of "fast" & affordable internet connection speeds is like the promise of efficient gov't in Spore. People shouldn't be surprised at the promises vs reality of service since all the ISPs are owned by the gov't

I've long given up trying to find the fastest & most reliable ISP. I simply go for the cheapest However I will probably not renew my Singnet account since I'm having problems connecting to Sammy's

They can only promise or pledge. But not fulfilled. Its only an aspiration remember? Collecting revenue is the important part.
