After losing 2-3 at home to the bottom team in the league (Blackburn), they went on to lose 0-3 to Newcastle?

Losing to Blackburn was horrible on many levels. First, they actually fought back from 0-2 down to equalise. When you do that, normally the opponent will be mentally crushed and the momentum is with you.. normally the opponent will not score again and you will definitely get at least a draw. However, they went on to lose the game even AFTER fighting back from 0-2. Against a horriblly weak team.

Then they got thrashed 0-3 by a very average Newcastle team that got destroyed by Chelsea.

This is not even taking into account the atrocious 1-6 defeat by Man City.

What is wrong with Man Utd? Is this the same team that defeated Arsenal 8-2 in the early part of the season? How can a team that looks so good one minute be so horrible the next?

And how the hell can they fail to qualify from the EASIEST Champions League group, when all they needed was a draw against the minnows Basel? True enough, they could not even draw!!

What is wrong with this team?

injuries /complacency / lack of quality players ==> ultimately, lack of funds.

with sapping interest payments, and failure to IPO, Man U is leaking $$....

Fergie's reluctance to sign any heavy weight is telling. He thinks he can create another class of Beckham / Scholes from the current crop. Unfortunately, this thing happen once in 50 years.

just write off this season and hope for the next...damm beginning to feel like Liverpool fan.

It seems like Ferguson and Rooney are at loggerheads now.

Rooney was caught going out to dinner on Boxing Day (??) and was dropped by Ferguson for the Blackburn game and also fined one weeks' salary. I am not exactly sure why he deserves such a punishment for going out to dinner, it was not as though he got drunk.

If there is one thing about Ferguson, he often falls out with his key men due to his personality. First it was Ince, then Stam, then Beckham and then Keane. It seems no one can see eye-to-eye with him, except those who suck up to him endlessly like Gary Neville.

fergie's achievements speaks for himself. I suppose if anyone can achieve what Fergie achieve, he can do whatever likes.

name me anyone in soccer management who can equal Fergie with his trophies...achievements.

no one is bigger than the club...and to be fair, Fergie backed Rooney during his turbulent times of prostitutes / affairs.

It was reported that the main reason he was fined and dropped was because of his poor performance in training the next day.
Gibson and Evans were also finned but Evans is injured and Gibson is probably history since he was going to be sold last summer anyway.
The rumour is that all 3 had too much to drink on their night out.
