we need new subjects for secondary school. we need to drop the O and A levels. and burn all 10 year series books in the great book burning of Singapore.

Make civic education (including consideration for others) a compulsory subject and if the student fails this subject, he stays in the same grade.

Bro,
If you subscribe to Vygotsky, I'd say civics and moral education have to start really young: about the age 3-7. Proper manners taught and values instilled, and it starts at home. Those with no manners can be thrown into a boot camp to teach them manners.

There should be a boot camp for parents too.

Pre world war II Japan was the most fantastic in terms of moral and civic education. Dates back of centuries of a deep rooted culture of respect for community. Then came technology and punk culture in the 70s and 80s, and things just went downhill from there. Despite that however the Japanese are still a far more cultured people overall compared to say, the China citizenry.

no need boot camp for parents. in the brave new singapore, children are separated from their parents at birth and institutionalized till they are 21. parenting is the job of the state. parents just need to fuck to make babies.

i don't blame them, someone broke the crystal ball. corporate retreat to the mountains. or bring the mountains to them.

imo, singapore lost a lot of technical skills in the pursuit of finance and other industries. if the future is one of robots, AI, quantum machines etc, then i see singapore's future as being the service center for the world of these technologies. We do not need to be the leaders and inventors in the field. we can be the best after-sales service and support specialist/center, dispatching our engineers and technicians for service jobs throughout the world. 3D printing could allow us to be the spare-parts capital of the world. singapore can adopt and modify, as 2nd movers, existing technologies of the future rather than having to be the creators and inventors.

the 5 stars on our flag should represent 5 overseas economic bastions of Singapore from which we service the world's machines and robots. north america, UK, india, china and Bangkok. 5 singapore-towns (temasek owned residences and offices, TCM clinics, SG intern'l schools) will be created, special benefits (housing, health and education) to Singaporeans and PRs, but revamped tax law to claw back overseas income.

eventually, only the young and old will be left on sunny Singapore island as the rest of us work and live in the 5 expansions. education and child raising will be the sole responsibility of the State. parents fuck and then fuck off to their jobs, leaving their offsprings at one of the local mega learning institutions. parents need a permit to have children if they fail to meet certain economic criteria (if you earn 24k a year, dont have 5 fucking children)

You describe what I had trouble expressing. Singapore should simply be just a trans-national country.

However, the Pap are still trying to define a sense of nationhood through NS and national education. Singaporeans themselves are confused what it means to a Singaporean. Heck, we are still debating how to properly elect a president.

Let's face it. Singapore is just a city state with ultra capitalist settings. I suggest Singaporean follow what Malaysian PR has been doing. Just get PR and fuck back to Malaysia when you earned your fair share.

We should just allow dual citizenship to make this trans-national corporate state a reality.

yet ironically, we can all spot a singaporean a mile away when we are overseas. being a singaporean is like love... you cant explain it, but you know it when you see it.

IMO, instead of focusing on fixing the problems of the country, we are WASTING precious parliamentary time to debate on highfalutin ideas for a ceremonial post that no one gives a flying fuck about. the office of president exists so that our PM can be the 2nd highest, instead of the highest paid civil servant in singapore. shake hands and take pictures with babies and take orders from an unelected presidential council. please lah, stop wasting our time. race based affirmative action has always been rejected in Singapore.

just make tharman the PM and wait for the other durians to ripen to take over.

but i digress... trans-national corporate Singapore ftw.
