What is Your Vocation During National Service?

You sure get hammer by the gangster hokkian pin, like the RP sgt Lam in safti.

I was in SAFTI. I had thousands of trainees to victimise. I wasn't confined to my own men. I could charge anyone.. OCT, SISL, Signals, Medic, GD platoon, HQ clerical staff.... all potential targets.

When I was DO, I would charge at least 4 people every time. It was so easy to catch guards sleeping. I knew all the hiding places because I used the same places myself to sleep when I was doing guard duty during my trainee days.

I wasn't at Tengah so I couldn't care two fucks what you did there.

When I was stationed at Tengah, there was one E2C airborne at all times and one fighter squadron on standby to be scrambled at short notice.

The E2Cs detected Indonesian naval activity during the aftermath of the hanging of the McDonald House bombers. It was the Old man's relationship with Suharto that enabled urgent phone calls to be made and the situation was diffused quickly.

The RSAF isn't going to wait till intruders are actually over the 710sqkm of airspace immediately above the Island. Way back in in 1988 when I was directly involved in the air defense of the Island, the E2Cs that were being used at the time provided more than 30 minutes of warning of any unusual aircraft activity within a cone of more than 250km radius.

You can read about the E2C's capabilities at https://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/e-2.htm

Many years have passed and I'm sure the advanced warning features today give even more time to react.

At Tengah Air Base, one squadron would be on standby duty at all times and could be scrambled within minutes. I can vouch for this because I witnessed it many times when I was deployed there.

All Air Forces have their limitations but I can tell you that when it comes to air defense, Singapore is not to be messed with. It is one of the best in the region. It's something that Singaporeans should truly be proud of.

You are one confusing man. Time for your medicine. You cannot even remember whether you are from tengah or not.

His 'charge' is just those informal punishment. Maybe 20 push-up or some extra guard duties. Not DB type. So no need charge forms. He just say 'charge' to make himself feel more invincible and important.

There were no Mess Boys at SAFTI. It was run by Mr & Mrs Han.

Jiak Lut you. Mr. Han is from Tengah Airbase. You remember wrongly. And to correct you, there are messboy helping him on a 'freelance' basis, that is on Fridays during happy hours.

I was a gardener for 1 day in NS. Tekong's seargeant major grabbed all the OOC personnel and make us pluck grass out growing out of the cracks in the pavements by hand.

After that I was a storeman in PLAB.

You're obviously clueless as to how things used to work. SAFTI is not a unit so when it comes to reservist postings, SAFTI officers have to be posted somewhere else eg PDF, Air Bases, Mindef etc.

Never set foot in the Tengah Officers' Mess. At the end of the day, we left camp.
