Germany did. Germany was split into west and east germany. Even today doing the nazi salute in germany is a jailable offence. Even nazis are seen as evil to this day and hitler is seen as an evil person.

Nope russia didn't apologize or was it held accounatable for doing that to berlin. Germany was the loser in WW2 of course the allies didn't care what russia did to germany. Germany also attacked russia during ww2 so for them to suffer retribution afterwards is understandable.

I personally think that destroyers are the only big thing left for a big country like Japan. Japan cannot own an aircraft carrier. It has a long coastline to protect against the commies aggression from PRC as well as DPRK.

the Soviet Russians were really bastards. in the East. the Russian took 500K Kwantung Army POW troops to Russian Siberia to do hard labor. more than half of the Army perished in Siberia. compare what Russia did to the Chinese treatment of the Japanese POW. the Chinese Nationalist government repatriated 2.2 million Japanese troops, administrators and families back to Japan within a year from VJ day. the costs of the repatriations was USD$350 million and fully paid for by the Chinese government. according to Mainland Historian Xin Haonian, every Japanese was given 5 kg of rice as a parting gift before deportation. wtf, the Kuomintang government treated those Japanese so good for what ? Japanese WW2 diplomat in China, Imai Takeo was among the Japanese delegates involved in the handing over of paperworks to the Kuomintang government after WW2. in his memoir. Imai expressed appreciation to the Chinese government for the smooth repatriation process and the lenient treatment of Japanese war criminals compared to the harsh actions by other allied powers.

if u study modern history of China. you will notice that a lot of those revolution pioneers stayed or studied in Japan before and a lot of them were inspired by the modernisation of Japan. Japan is some how a cradle for the Chinese revolution. i think that is why the leadership was so lenient towards Japan after the war.

but i think during that time the leadership did not suffer much during the Japanese invasion only the people kena all these cruelty. they may still having hope that can maintain the relationship with Japan and learn from them. although they lost the war, but Japan was the most advance Asian country during that time. Japan and China relationship really go back a long way. it is like master and disciple, first they learn everything from China. The culture and political system. etc for hundreds of years. then they learned from the angmo and started 明治维新. they realised that their rich Chinese master actually very weak! so started to harvest ambitions and plan to take over resources rich China. during 八国联军 Japan was one of them with all the European countries.
