The 1970s Malaysia Cup winning teams and even the 1980s teams were truly representative of the real singapore. Every race and ethnicity was represented on the team. You were on the team because you merited it. We did not have to bribe Angmo FTs with large pay and PR to come and play for the country. We had eurasian goalie (Eric Paine), Indian players (Terry Pathmanathan, S Rajagopal the Camel, etc.), Arab origins (Samad Allipitchay), Chinese captain (Quah Kim Song), many chinese players and some of the most classy strikers like Malay Mat Noh. The teams really united the country. When they played, the whole country stopped and tuned into the radio or TV or simply went to the National Stadium to watch. It says a lot about a govt. that it could not even see that these football teams were a unifying force for the whole country. Incompetence, stupidity, greed, pride and malice ruined this. Now dispite all the hundreds of millions $ spend on propaganda for this campaign and that campaign (such as SG50), they willl never be able to replicate what we had back than. Fucking PAP.
