Waiter jailed for entering female toilet and filming women

SINGAPORE - A 23-year-old man who entered a female toilet and filmed women urinating was jailed for eight weeks on Thursday (Dec 17).
Henry Ng Har Leng was a member of the service staff at KTV Partyworld at Safra Yishun Country Club at Yishun Avenue 4 when he committed 10 offences - five each of criminal trespass and insulting modesty of a woman - from Feb 10 to 12 this year.
He admitted to three charges and had the rest taken into consideration.
The court heard that he arrived early for work at the country club on Feb 10. So he sat at the arcade games area, which was near the female toilet.
A while later, he saw a 23-year-old woman entering the toilet.
He then entered the toilet to capture video footage of the woman using the toilet.
He squatted outside the cubicle occupied by the woman, held his cellphone near the bottom of the cubicle and filmed her without her knowledge.
Two days later, while at work some time past midnight, he saw a 24-year-old woman leaving the KTV Partyworld to use the female toilet.
He followed her to capture video footage of her using the toilet.
But he was caught this time. The woman saw his shoes and Samsung Note 4 which were visible under the cubicle door. She shouted, came out of the cubicle and chased Ng. She managed to see his work attire as he ran out.
He immediately returned to the KTV Partyworld where he deleted the video recording.
The woman told her boyfriend and the security staff about the incident. The boyfriend questioned the staff at KTV Partyworld, including Ng, but Ng denied that he was the one.
The woman called the police, who arrived and questioned Ng. He eventually confessed and his two mobile phones were seized.
Ng's lawyer, Ms N. Sudha Nair, said in her written mitigation plea that an Institute of Mental Health psychiatrist had found Ng to have paraphilic disorder and a background history of fetishistic disorder. Ng now has features of voyeuristic disorder.
Ms Nair said Ng assured the court that he would never do it again now that he was aware of his psychiatric condition. She said Ng would undergo treatment to address his psychiatric issues to ensure his deviant behaviour did not return.
He could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined for insulting modesty of a woman. For criminal trespass, he could have been jailed for up to three months and/or fined up to $1,500.
