Viet woman held for bribery

A 35-YEAR-OLD Vietnamese woman was arrested on Monday for offering a bribe to two CID officers. She had offered them a bribe of S$330 when the two officers came across her during an anti-vice operations at Lorong 12 Geylang.
She was found in a room with a man and, suspecting her of being involved in vice-related activities, Senior Staff Sergeant Azman Hasim and Sergeant Tan Yi Li questioned her. She pleaded with them not to take action against her and offered them a stack of $10 notes, and then offered a second bribe of three $50 notes on top of the original amount.
The woman was placed under arrest for bribery and her case has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau. Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Ng Boon Gay commended the two officers for their high level of integrity.
