Anyone with understandings on simple accounting will realize the enormous task to account for EVERY single cent in just a mere 100 manpower company. Accounts HAVE to accurate, otherwise there will be disputes, & such are only private companies.
Singapore's reserves come from NUMEROUS sources, & not just 3.5Million citizens alone, with transactions happening EVERY second. Thus, it is not possible to have a full accurate accounting even for the moment as the 'meter' of income, assets & liabilities are running every second, more so in politics as should any figure is not accurate, even in the ball park range, it will be costly & would be made used of by the opposition to tarnish credibility...
Ultimately, any nation on Earth will realize the importance of savings for rainy days. Does Singapore have reserves? Yes & proven during the COVid era as well as the distribution of funds to citizens to assist in post COVid recovery as well as the uncertainties of price rise caused by wars from other nations. Singapore did not turn to IMF for loans unlike other far bigger nations than us.
Thanks to Ah Kong, he was NOT a spendthrift, spent only when absolutely necessary to save & progress lives, & did left a legacy of thriftiness for us & future generations to adopt.
So what is the purpose to know the EXACT amount in our Reserves meant for rainy days such as wars, famines, disasters, etc as well as for our future generations?
It is for sure NOT as much as USA or China, or oil rich Saudi Arabia where their mere gdp alone are in trillions. It is best that our reserves be kept secret, as there are financial predators out for blood to enhance their own coffers at the expense of others. A mere combined attack on financial markets - stocks, forex, etc, would wipe out every single cent of any nation's reserve there should they know the extent of a nation's wealth in their treasury.
So let those predators ASS U ME the amounts instead & play their financial, political socio games. A nation then can use the HIDDEN amounts to STRIKE BACK, & wipe off every single cent those predators own, right down to their pants they are wearing. It's only National Defense Strategy.
