An unemployed man, who threatened to post nude photographs of his former wife and videos showing them having sex on the Internet, was jailed for two months on Tuesday. The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation.
A district court heard that the pictures and the videos were shot with her consent when they were married, however they divorced in September 2011.
Between Sep 14 and Nov 26 that year, he sent nine messages to her Facebook account. He adopted a fictitious name and pretended that she had asked him to upload the videos onto social networking and pornographic websites. The woman, 24, a housewife, lodged a police report on Nov 27, 2011. The court ordered that the woman's identity not be revealed. He was also not named as it could lead to her identification.
When passing sentence, District Judge Jasbendar Kaur noted that these were deliberate and pre-meditated acts and were not committed in the heat of the moment. The judge also said that the man had created a fictitious Facebook account to conceal his identity.
