The student in UK Cambridge uni today try to throw his shoe at PRC PM Wen Jia Bao who was on the stage speaking. But not only he was unable to reach the distance, the crowd did not support him and he was taken away very quickly and shouting. The crowd shouted against him and Wen Jia Bao reproached the demonstrator.

His shoes landed on stage a yard away before it could reach Wen Jia Bao. It was a sport training shoe.

劍橋大學演說 溫家寶慘遭鞋襲

（中央社記者黃貞貞倫敦2日專電）中國總理溫家寶今天進行在英國最後一天訪問，下午在劍橋大學演講時，遭一名聽眾「鞋襲」並被辱罵是「獨裁者」，但未被擊中。


溫家寶遭「鞋襲」的消息，包括英國廣播公司(BBC)、「泰晤士報」 (The Times)、「每日電訊報」 (TheDaily Telegraph)等媒體都以顯著版面報導。


溫家寶這場以世界經濟為題的演講，是他這次歐洲「信心之旅」訪問第二場公開演講，劍橋大學十分慎重，除了有安全人員戒護，所有入場的聽眾必須經過金屬探測器嚴密檢查才能入場。


不過在演講廳入口處已有支持西藏，反對中國人權政策的民眾，他們被警方隔在遠處，高聲向溫家寶抗議，而支持中國的民眾則被安排在入口處較近的區域。


去年12月美國前總統布希訪問伊拉克時，在記者會上遭對他不滿的伊拉克記者擲鞋攻擊；溫家寶成為第2位被公開「鞋襲」的政治領袖，不免令他顏面無光。


就在溫家寶演說即將結束前，一名操歐洲口音，坐在距離講台約20排，深色頭髮的西方年輕男子，突然站起來吹起口哨，大聲叫囂「劍橋大學怎麼能出賣自己，和這個獨裁者為伍？你們怎麼能聽他的謊言？」。


這位年約20出頭的男子，隨即脫下鞋子，朝溫家寶擲去，但未擊中，大喊「這是個醜聞」，並呼籲在場觀眾站起來抗議，質疑溫家寶。未久安全人員即把這名男子架走。


這突如其來的抗議舉動，令溫家寶暫停數分鐘，才再繼續未完的演講。他說，「這種卑劣的行為，不會影響中國與英國的友誼」，獲得台下以中國學生居多的觀眾熱烈掌聲。之後未免再有「意外」發生，安全人員都上台嚴密防備。


溫家寶結束演說後，轉往白金漢宮參加由英國安德魯王子 (Duke of York)舉辦的農曆春節慶祝活動，晚間搭機返回北京。980202

此人在安全人員將他自劍橋大學音樂廳架走前喊道：「這是個醜聞。」當時溫家寶的歐洲5國訪問行程已屆最後1天，正在廳內演講。

這名抗議者是個看似西方人的年輕男子，身穿圓領衫。他並說：「這邊這位獨裁者，你們怎麼聽得下去他說的謊言？你們沒有質疑他。」

他還說：「這所大學怎麼可以向這名獨裁者出賣自己？」

正如1名伊拉克記者去年12月在巴格達朝美國前總統布希投擲雙鞋的事件，這名抗議男子自接近聽眾席後方的位置擲出破舊的運動鞋。

這隻鞋落在距離溫家寶1公尺處，並未擊中目標。

安全官員登上講台，將運動鞋踢開，1名中共官員將鞋提走。

這名抗議者還吹哨子，並在被攆走時說，「大家站起來抗議吧」，但聽眾反駁道，「你真丟臉，你真丟臉」。

溫家寶在恢復演講後說：「這種卑劣行為無法阻撓中國和英國的友誼。」聽眾隨即響起掌聲，這些聽眾多半是中國留學生。

〔編譯陳成良／綜合報導〕 繼美國前總統布希去年十二月在伊拉克被記者丟臭鞋成為國際大頭條後，中國國務院總理溫家寶二日在英國劍橋大學針對全球經濟議題發表演說時，也遭到一名憤怒的抗議人士丟鞋子示辱，鞋子最後落在演講台上離溫家寶約一公尺處。


這名抗議者被現場安全人員架離時，口中還高喊：「丟臉死了」，「劍橋大學怎可與這個獨裁者一起墮落？」這名西方臉孔的抗議者身穿Ｔ恤，他在砸鞋後又吹口哨，還嗆聲說：「這個獨裁者在這裡，你們如何能聽他滿口謊言？你們都沒有質疑他。」


演講一度被打斷的溫家寶悻然地說，這些卑鄙的伎倆，阻擋不了中英兩國的友誼，…，任何力量均無法阻擋，請讓他講下去。最後台下有人鼓掌，才暫時化解尷尬。

The Iraqi shoethrower was very good. As can be seen in the footage, his aim and distance projection came with almost military precision. George W. Bush came out quite well too. Apparently he saw it coming and evaded just in time. He must have very good anticipation and evasion reflexes, otherwise it looked sure for the shoe to hit him squarely in his face. Comparatively, the Chinese shoethrower seemed like throwing an amateurish tantrum a foot wide and a yard off target.

Anyway, perhaps there should be a new law for conferences involving statesmen. All reporters and audience to leave their shoes outside the conference halls, just like mosques and temples.

On Etiquette & Restraint


This morning (3rd Feb 2009) Chinese Premier Wen Jia Bao narrowly avoided being hit by a flying shoe. This was a copy-cat Iraqi-style attack on US President George W Bush, who had to duck a flying shoe situation last year (14th Dec 2008).

Closer home, last month (11th January 2009) Mr Seng Han Thong, MP for Yio Chu Kang Single Member Constituency suffered 15 per cent burns to his upper body after he was set on fire by a constituent at a constituency event. On a positive note, Singaporeans are relieved to know that MP Seng is recovering.

Such attackers possibly could be driven by desperation to make known their viewpoints, or possibly to highlight the plight of particular issues-at-hand. However to express oneself via such lack of restraint (Or for that matter, via any forms of terror) is absolutely unacceptable under all circumstances.

During peace time, etiquette & restrain sets humanity apart from the animal kingdom. Even during times of conflict & war, there are stipulated rules of engagement. Let’s us remember this.

Hello, mosques and temples are not stinking even though everybody removes their shoes. In fact mosques are even more stringent with this than temples, they require washing of the feet before entry.

As you said, muslim need to do some washing before entering the mosque, so it's fine. In chinese temple, the burning joss stick has effectively help to cover the stink smell. But i can't imagine when you sit in the fully packed aircon cinema and everybody removes their shoes.:o:o:o

剑桥大学发表声明。校长理查德说：我们对温总理来剑桥发表演讲深感荣幸。我对某个 人违反剑桥大学传统，不尊重演讲者的行为表示非常遗憾。剑桥大学是理性争鸣和辩论的场所，不是掷鞋的地方。理查德还对中方人员说，个别人的行为不能代表剑 桥师生。温家宝总理现场的表现令人敬佩。演讲内容精彩充实，深深吸引了听众。



英官方对此事件表示遗憾和歉意，允将依法处理，称此事不能改变温家宝总理访英取得成功的事实。



英国当地媒体连日来高度关注温家宝总理访问英国，评价温总理此访进一步加强了中英合作，对国际社会携手应对国际金融危机具有重要意义。媒体纷纷对肇事者的行径予以谴责，称此人没有达到目的，反而是温总理赢得了满堂掌声。
