US is still sending mixed signal, Do they oppose or they do not support, which has 2 different meaning, do remember when GWB was president Taiwan almost declare independent, GWB told Taiwan US oppose that move.

They stated they are behind Japan 100% but the language they use meant something else, so exactly what is what, going to let the 2 far east dragons fight it out and US will pick up the pieces.

WAs asking who actually own the islands, since you said it was cancel due to SF treaty, are you referring to SF treaty which both ROC and PRC wasn't even invited, it is invalid the SF treaty..

That is why US are unable to take any position on the islands ownership.

i was referring to the Treaty of Taipei which largely corresponds to that of San Francisco Treaty on the Taiwan issue.

the Japanese had formally renounced its rights to Taiwan. but they insisted that the Senkaku islands are not an integral part of Taiwan, and they don't recognize the historical claims of the islands by China, and they incorporated the islands into its territory just before the Treaty of Shimonoseki 1895.

OK, whatever japan claim is not valid either, if it is valid US would have already stated their postion and not announce they have no position, anyway the mess is created by US The Great Satan.

"Getting into a war with China is easy," says Michael Vickers, a former Green Beret who developed the weapons strategy for the Afghan resistance in the 1980s as a CIA officer and is now at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, in Washington. "You can see many scenarios, not just Taiwan – especially as the Chinese develop a submarine and missile capability throughout the Pacific. But the dilemma is, How do you end a war with China?"

The Middle East is just a blip. The American military contest with China in the Pacific will define the twenty-first century. And China will be a more formidable adversary than Russia ever was.

Relax, it is just an air zone (ADIZ), nothing else.
Japan has also enlarged its air zone not long ago.
US never like air zone because they like to think they are free to go anywhere.

In fact, having an air zone helps avoid misunderstanding when an unidentified vessel enters the area.
It has no hold on any territories. It is not a "no fly zone".
It is not exclusive as well, air zones can overlap.

An air zone is defined by the speed of modern enemy jets and the amount of time needed to challenge, identify hostile intent, and prepare air defenses.
When unidentified planes enter an air zone, they are required to identify themselves.

the historical evidences by either sides are pointless since they will never go to international court to settle it.

think US military presence in the Far East is not necessarily a bad thing. real wars happen not because opposing sides are armed to the teeth but because there is military imbalance between opposing sides. the US have to maintain the military balance there. history tell us that the US withdrew militarily and politically from China and Korea too quickly after ww2 and it was proven to be a disastrous mistake. during the Marshall Mission in China, George Marshall was able to reduce the armed conflict between the Nationalists and Communists to relatively small scale fighting. when Marshall ended the mission and the US announced its non-interference policy to China, the civil war exploded all over China. in Jan 1950, the US announced its non-interference policy to the Korean peninsula, six months later, the North invaded the South. the two wars would be prevented if the US military forces had stayed in China and Korea then or US should at least not declared its non-interference policies.

US are too much of a hypocrite.

After WW2 and the Korean war, what has US been doing, it has been stirring shit all over the world, Central and South America, governments which US don't like they have them overthrow,History of U.S. Interventions in Latin America.

1950: Command operation ... , soldiers briefly involved in hostage clash; ... Background Information on the Use of United States Armed Forces in Foreign Countries.

In the 60's Vietnam, 70 to 80 cold war, 90's Middle east and present now pivot to SEA, US want to contain China, they need Japan to own those islands so China will have a restriction of sea lanes same goes for Pinoy and Vietnam if those 2 control spratley China are box in ( Australia is a given US lapdog now pretty anti China with it new PM), Take a look at China map and you can see it clearly, does US need so many base in SEA after all it been very peaceful for sometime.

Why do Japan PM abe( His grandfather is a cabinet minster during ww2 never get over they lost the war that is why he is so hawkish:eek:) visit all SEA countries to drum up support to contain China rise

To the west US need Afghan badly to sign the deal so they can station their troops there for the next 10 years, to the south India, US want China be so it can break up China, that is IMHO, and why are they so eager to get the deal done with Iran, go figure.

Besides Tibet and Vietnam (the latter which failed), China has really invaded other countries. After WWII, the US has physically and secretively inserted it influence all over the world.

It just political posturing. Air Defense ID zone is nothing new. US, SK, Japan have it long ago and why can't China have one too? It long overdue for China to have theirs.

ADIZ is an American creation. China is merely following the American's standard.
American and Japanese should be proud of such legacy that China is following and not inventing a new standard. American's standard is the world best! The whole world should followed.

Japan has an ADIZ that overlaps most of its Exclusive Economic Zone. In May 2013, Japan extended its ADIZ westward, causing controversy with its neighbours. The new Japnese ADIZ was extended 22km west of the original half way line (123 Degree East) between Taiwan and Japan. [9] Also, the extended Japanese ADIZ is only 130km from the coast of mainland China at its closest point."

"China has established their own version of an ADIZ in 23rd, November 2013, in respond to a westward extension of Japan's ADIZ in May 2013 [11][12] [13] The Chinese ADIZ covers the disputed Diaoyou/Senkaku Island and is 130km from Japanese territory at its closest point.[14] American defense secretary Chuck Hagel called the Chinese move "a destabilizing attempt to alter the status quo in the region"."

it's very interesting that Japan made this first and people blame China is changing the status quo... ..

The US doesn't have to use guns on the Chinks. All it will need to do is shift manufacturing somewhere else. The Chinese will be begging for mercy in no time at all.

If that happens, the american business men will convert to singaporean and continue to invest in china.

The interesting part is that all the civilian airliner companies from Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Indonesia and etc ... that have flight-paths crossing the area had already submitted their flight schedules to PLA for vettings.

Seems like the Yankees is losing the leash on Abe's rhetoric posture and PLA is stepping in to perform the unfavorable task for proper order maintenance.

As usual Yankees prefer only to use their mouths in their game of words for the Japs.
