SINGAPORE - Two men in their 20s were arrested by the police on Tuesday for their suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft in Jurong West.

At about 2.30pm, two unknown men approached the female victim at a HDB void deck along Jurong West Street 41.

One of them then snatched her handbag before fleeing the scene with his accomplice.

Following a police report, Jurong Division police officers retrieved images from police cameras and conducted ground enquiries, before they were able to establish a suspect's identity.

He was subsequently arrested along Tah Ching Road within four hours of the incident, while his accomplice was arrested along Jurong West Street 72 at about 12.15am.

The two suspects, aged 21 and 26, are due to be charged in court on Thursday.

If convicted of snatch theft with common intention, they each face a maximum jail term of seven years and could be liable for caning.
