China will not fight with the USA unless it has got no choice. China is aware that Russia may play dirty by helping the US to defeat it and then swooping down to claim territory once China is beaten. Also once China has lost the war it may have to make many many concessions including giving up the right to claim those disputed islands, all these being done to ensure China never becomes militarily strong again.
Like Japan before , China will be emasculated militarily but allowed to grow economically.

Agree with you 100% that politics is a dirty and tricky business . Not knowing who your friends are is one problem but friendships can switch pretty quickly too. One day someone is your friend but the next day , in order to serve his country's interests he may be in conflict with you. You have to be on your guard all the time and know what the scenarios are and where everything is flowing.
