Todd vs the Govt of Singapore

Some of the discussions in the days following the start of Inquiry was not about his cause of death but the press coverage from across the world and in local forums. One thing was consistent, any points that favoured the establishment was not factored in, not reported nor acknowledged. All the foreign press took that line including netizens by and large.

I guess it was payback time for this govt's attempts to gag them thru the courts and burning a hole in their pockets. Much of which if one remembers correctly were any report in foreign press suggesting nepotism in regard to old man's son or his daughter-in-law.

The second idiot on same equation is our Foreign Minister Shanmugam who took to task the world press community over their annual rating of Singapore Press Holdings and he did this last year. Where he praised SPH to high heaven knowing full well that they are as dishonest, bias and impartial on everything about any comments that are derogatory about the PAP and the Govt. This same clown who rubbished the foreign press community was seeking their support for the Todd inquiry. Was he seriously expecting any form of support. They thumbed their noses at him.

Now it seems that certain key players in the press world were behind Raymond Bonner's article and the use of a highly respected organisation such as the Financial Times, the local law fraternity who were suckered into pro bono services and couple of other clowns.

The old man did it to protect his family interest and not the country. Was it worth it?

That's not true. The foreign coverage was balanced and showed little slant. Look at reports from the PAP-press, it was crafted to buttress the PAP's coverup.

The fact that the international press gives fair airing to BOTH sides of the story is itself a slap on the PAP's face. I can imagine the PAP Committee of Legal Procedures (if such in fact exist) holed up inside their Tanglin Club karaoke room debating whether you can sue for defamation for reporting factual news.

Honestly after all these years you expect the local press to grow a spine. They have been taking blood money all these years. They suddenly become objective when they retire or leave the organisation. Look at Balji, Henson, Cheong etc.

Not forgetting MBT, Abdullah Tarmugi, Zainul Abidin, Irene Ng and Seng Han Thong.

I think the govt is playing to a very careful script. They are not going to address swirling rumours, hearsay evidence etc until they are presented in court as official evidence by the rules of evidence. Because of this tunnel vision, their defence becomes rather one-dimensional, crimped and appears deaf and dumb to the world. They pretty much embed this in much of their dealings with the populace, case in pt. general feedback, the White Paper, OSC etc.

Like that guy kukubird, who has picked up this type of habit and approach, hence they will always be the laughing stock of mankind except they cant see themselves that they are the butt.

I found the whole affair very amusing since the circus in court could have been avoided if the various local organisations had been more careful in their procedures and reporting. Just as they were when presenting themselves in the coroner's court. They had to be subjected to scrutiny in public before assembling a coherent picture to answer the allegations of the family of the late Mr. Shane Todd.

As I understand, the local research institute in question has already lost all its American sources of funding. I do not think the findings of this coroner's court will convince them to resume their research grants.

The family has concoted the most unbelievable story of espionage. Even the worst Hollywood scriptwriter has produced better story lines than this. There are so many other ways to conduct espionage of US National Security secrets in Singapore--Naval Base, Air Force in Paya Lebar, hacking, blackmailing officials etc. Instead the conjure this nonsense over GaN which their son never researched in his studies.

I wonder are they purely anti-Singaporean for the sake of it? Did they fly all the way here to eat only American food?

PAP IBs like Steffychun continually fails to ask more pertinent questions: Why the need to spring a surprise witness? Why deny the Todds’ lawyers the necessary time to prepare to question him? What training did the stupid judge receive that this simple principle of natural justice that even a first year law student can understand he also catch no ball?

No need to wonder why she is continuously playing the nationalism card - she IS a PAP IB. She is a frog in the well SINKIE who got money to travel to London, New York, etc but expect everything to be done in the 3K Sinkie way everywhere. She goes to Harrods and wonders why they don't sell chendol!
