Third man charged over robbery involving $432,000

They allegedly robbed and punched a man in 2010 before making off with over $400,000.
Last November, two of the suspects were charged in court while the rest remained at large.
Yesterday, a third man, Malaysian Elaggovan Gopalan, 33, was hauled to the State Courts and charged with robbing and hurting Mr Chang Lai Huat on March 11, 2010.
Court papers said that Elaggovan, along with compatriots Tachana Moorthy Peromal, 29, Ravi Sandhira Sagaran, 28, and several unknown persons, had committed the offence at Woodlands Square at about 11.45am.
Elaggovan is said to have punched Mr Chang in the face before the men made off with $432,000.
Elaggovan had been on the run since, but was arrested recently, the court heard.
He appeared yesterday in the dock dressed in a dark green T-shirt.
He remained calm as the robbery with hurt charge was read out to him.
He told the court he would be seeking legal representation and denied the charge.
REMANDED
He was ordered to be remanded at the Police Cantonment Complex for investigations and is next expected in court on Aug 12.
Tachana will go on trial later this month, while Ravi's case is pending. Both also face three other charges, including one of robbing a moneychanger of $624,000 last November.
The penalty for robbery and voluntarily causing hurt is jail of between five and 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
