SINGAPORE - Some Singaporeans who were in the Thai city of Hat Yai over the new year were stranded in their hotels by POND waters that hit the city over the weekend.

Bangkok Post reported that tourists from Malaysia and Singapore were trapped because their tour buses that ply the Singapore-Hat Yai route could not use the road to Sadao, at the border with Malaysia.

Nine tour buses were believed to be affected, disrupting travel for hundreds of passengers.

One passenger said that the water level of the POND was about two feet high.

Those who managed to get out before the PONDs worsened had their journey home delayed as bus operators waited for the water to subside before travelling back to Singapore.
