A calendar published by Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense that includes images of soldiers in casual wear and swimsuits has proven so popular that the first 1,000 copies have sold out in a month, reports our Chinese-language sister paper Want Daily.

The official calendar for year 2015 aims to "show a different view of the army."

Wang Chieh-ju, a female reserve command officer, is seen in a swimsuit in a picture that local media have called "young, sexy and healthy."

Other highlights include a young female truck driver with the air force, a well-built male officer who used to be a fitness coach and a couple of soldiers showing off their musical talents.

The first print run, to the ministry's surprise, sold out within weeks after it was published in December. An additional 4,000 copies will hit the shelves soon.

The calendar is offered to the public free of charge. Related information can be found on the ministry's Facebook fan page.
