The labor market in Singapore

Recently been speaking to a few I.T vendors and software companies.

First thing these buggers told me was that they were having a hard time getting employees.

I asked Boss A why. Boss A said, "nowadays with the foreign workers quota tightening and levy going up, so hard to find people. Now engineers are asking for $3k-4k per month. How to run a business like this?"

$3k-4k a month for engineer considered expensive? Then maybe his company is just a shitty company.

IF the Singapore bosses all want cheap labour and cheap wages ,they better closed down their businesses in singapore and relocate to India and Bangladesh.

Look, Leegime lies that median income is 3.4K/mth. So if that is expensive, it means that they put in 0.5-1 million extra F trash below 3.4K to put 3.4K to 50 percentile in ranking. This would kill many uni-grads. 3-4 is the claimed 50-60 percentile income. So you know you owe Leegime no favors other than making their scholars beg on the streets, which is their worth.

actually, I've noticed something also, majority of the unemployed (permanent and cyclical) locals seem to be from the IT industry. Is it me or is it real?

Yes you are right. I am from the IT industry and I have seen the same situation. There are cheaper IT resources outside Singapore. Some say IT is the like white collar construction industry....

Let's put it this way. If you are in I.T and you want to look for an entry level or first job out of uni thing, you are thoroughly screwed by cheaper foreign talents. This is especially so with the local companies. Very bad hiring practices.

Frens, Singapore getting expensive to operate is only one part of the overall situation - just ask yourselves, KL, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Ho Chi Minh City - have they remained where they were at during the eighties/seventies of have they progressed, improved and updgraded themselves? Economically, politically, socially, education, professionallly? I believe they have forged forward in ALL areas. Has Sg maintained the same lead advantage? Years ago, my company exported into Vietnam all kinds of US, European and Jap materials, none of which exist for us today, the Viets are able to do it themselves. Let's face it, Sg was ahead when the region was busy fighting war, they're at peace now and working.

Cheers!

I can never accept ICA and police force hiring or out-sourced to companies using FTs to station at customs or others. Do the ICA and police force have high rental issue? or slowing sales?

Year after year the garmen reports surplus but refuse to hire locals!

I think the government needs a wake up call wrt to their position as overall rental overlord in this small country.

the bulk of the costs of running a business is strangely not the labour bill but the rental costs. It is ridiculously expensive to do or run a business in singapore because of the rents being sucked dry by the government through its reits/rental agents.

As ;long as the reits continue to promise optimistic and gravity defying dividend rates, the rents will continue to be high. perhaps what is needed is for a lot of these so called businesses built on the backs of cheap labour to close shop and abandon their rents and let the REITs feel the pinch before they start coming to their senses.

the govt's intention to import more FTs is not just a political one since they can get more grateful voters, it is to flush the market with unproductive and inefficirent labour++

Reason they let in cheap labor from abroad is to let keep the wages down. In the process of keeping the wages down, they can up the rental. If wages and rental kept pace and rise together, Singapore will be priced out. So, the sensible thing to do is to let the rental goes up as govt is the Nett beneficiary of this increased. As for the wages, we can keep cheaper workers flowing in cos there is abundance of it around us and they are dying to come over .So overall the salary will be competitive.

This strategy can only work if we have infinite land or resources. Also, this strategy can only work if govt can keep importing cheap labor. This strategy can only work if we are Singapore INC !

what is Singapore today blame it on LKY.

he is a bad lawyer, a lousy businessman and a cunning politician.

A bad lawyer because he used ISA and control the legal system to suppress his own people.

A lousy businessman as you can see today control most businesses in Singapore under GLC and when cost exploded turned to foreign cheap labours and suppressed local wages.

A cunning politician he sued oppos, gerrymandering in GE and suppressed freedom of speech and control free flow of information.

Those balless Sinkie companies keep complaining about not being able to find cheap foreign labor, instead of complaining about the true business killer - exorbitant rental.

This CCB PAP is the master of obsfuscation and deception. Obviously they wont admit to sinkies that the truth behind wtf they are doing has to do with suppressing thier wages ...especially when you allow all these CCB chao ah neh nehs into your fucking country by recognising their dunno what kinda fucking paper qualification from some university of pondicherry or similanjiao kekling kiah pwabye uni.....

and so how the fuck are your so called newly minted degree holders from NUS or NTU ever gonna compete???

In the end the fucking PAP just wants every sinkie to be running harder, spending less time and energy fucking them and from discovering the truth state of their enslavement and at the same time milk all the dumbass businesses with high rentals and hope that the consumerism in this stupid fucking country will continue to run rife and that they will laugh all the fucking way to the nbanks.... if you wanna clean up you risk killing the commercialism.... in the end if you destroy the PAP, you might have to destroy half the economy....

thats how insidious these bastards have become...they are like a parasitic creeper that has strangled the fucking tree so no choice if you chop them down, the fucking tree has got to go down as well.

NBCCB better get ready to run road if these bastards are not denied a majority by 2016!!!!

These companies think that they are competing against India and China while in sinkapore. They should close shop and move to India or China where they will be eaten alive.

Creative destruction is a necessity evil to get rid of the cancer. If the PAP doesn't get booted out in 2016, I give up.
