The Wonderful Achievements that Ass Loon Made in a Decade as Emperor

[h=1]PM'S LOOKING BACK - 10 YEARS' "STATISTICS"?[/h]
Post date:
17 Jan 2015 - 6:24pm

Looking back at the last decade
According to the Straits Times news report “PM Lee: Looking back on 10 years at the helm and ahead at new tensions and challenges” (Jan 16) – “And on his biggest regret:
“In retrospect, it is easy to say that we should have been building up our infrastructure a lot faster, that we should have got our trains running, we should have built more HDB flats.

At the time we thought we were doing the right thing, pacing it, measuring it out, building it when we needed it and not spending resources until we needed to spend them.
It turned out that things did not pan out the way we expected. I think that we have to plan in future less conservatively and try to be less precise in our prognostications.” – Let’s look at the key statistics in the last 10 years.

HDB
HDB prices increased by 78 per cent from 2004 (URA Resale Price Index 77.1) to 2014 (137.1).

Wages
The real growth in basic wage, total wage and median gross wage (excluding employer CPF contribution) were near to zero per cent per annum.

Foreigners
“On dealing with the tensions between Singaporeans and foreigners:
“We have to talk about it on both sides, with Singaporeans to understand why it is necessary (to have foreigners here) and how we are adapting our policies to minimise the impacts and the side-effects.” – The number of foreigners increased by 845,587 or 112 per cent to 1,598,985.

Moreover, an estimated 450,000 new PRs and 200,000 new citizens were granted.

Healthcare
The total number of hospital beds increased by only an estimated 500 beds or 5 per cent to 12,035.

Jobs
An estimated one million jobs were created for foreigners against half a million for locals (Singaporeans and PRs).

CPF
The number of all Singaporeans at age 55 who were able to meet their CPF Minimum Sums (currently $155,000 + MMS $43,500) entirely with CPF without pledging property decreased to only about one in eight.

Gee I thought the complaints about cost of living is due to cost of living rising. But according to PM Lee it is due to people demanding better lifestyle....here are the extracts from the interview.
__________________
"In 1984, when I entered politics, nobody brought up the issue of cost of living. At that time, people were a lot less well-off than the people now, but nobody really felt they didn't have enough money. Or at least, they did not view this as the most important issue of their lives. This was because everyone believed their lives will improve and tomorrow will be better as long as they continued to work hard.

"Right now, our lives have indeed improved, and this applies even for low-income families. They live in better environments and their children have more opportunities to get a good education. But everyone still feels they don't have enough money. Why is that so? This isn't just a statistical problem and it also isn't just about the Consumer Price Index.

"This is about different lifestyles and people's aspirations. It's about people seeing what the average standard of living should be and everyone aspiring towards that. It'sabout them feeling the need to accomplish what they want in life and yet feeling that they can't because they don't have enough money. So they think they have a problem with the cost of living. It's not easy to solve."

Parachute or not, PAP is still the best. MPs like Chan Chun Sing, Chia Shih Lu, Tan Chuan Jin all are top scholarship winners. They are the best calibre sinkies produced by our education system. Very few sinkies can claim to be better than they are. If we don't vote for people like them, then vote for who? Losers like Chiam who did so poorly for his O levels and was never at the top of his game even as a lawyer?

Haha. I am beginning to like what you are doing. Keep it up please.

Re: PM: Vote for quality people to represent you

The PM's handlers should have reminded him . It is not what you say , it is how you say it. By extension, it is how you come across that matters more than your actual content. Any Singaporean who caught a snippet of this interview would have been alarmed, This was one depressed and exhausted guy and he is getting more so with time. Do you see Obama, who has much bigger problems and much lower pay I might add, looking anything less than sharp ? If the PM is CEO of a Singapore Inc, I would say the company has big problems. Worse still, this CEO has problems he does not know how to solve.

exhausted because he opened the pandora box and doesnt know how to put it back in?perhaps could it be that he realised his vision of singapore wasnt that platable after all and his textbook economy is appearing to be a little too contrived, too artificial and unrealistic and perhaps a little too fixated and obssesive compulsive and based on totally unsound principles?

this country is going to hell.

With respect, there is no need to make those allegations against Mr. Chiam, regardless whether he did poorly at his "O" levels, and that he was apparently not one of the top lawyers (based on your comments).

There are many, including me, who may not have eight "O" distinctions or passes, but survived reasonably well in the past decades.

Although you sound or read like a PAP supporter, your messages are way too one sided.

Academic Results more important than whether a person has a heart to serve to people? Is this Singapore???

I do not believe my comments indicated or alluded to "academic results are more important"
