Hi brother [GoldenDragon],
I am just curious to find out that in gambling, especially at a casino, where the odds are 50-50 at best, how in the long run, does a professional gambler makes money, that is win rather than lose, say over a period of one year or longer?
Most important trait is discipline. Never be greedy. Always remember casinos 'beat won't die' type.
There are at least 2 types of gamblers that exist. One category includes those who bring in small sums of $$$ and hope to leave winning big-time. Vey unlikely to succeed unless you are super lucky. But you are more likely to run out of $$$$ before that big big day arrive. Similar to wanting to bring RWS down armed with just a hammer.
Another category (I belong here) brings in a decent sum of capital hoping for a small bonus. For instance, I usually equip myself with 2-3k per entry. Make $300 leave. Bet small amount. No need to rush. Borrow the luck of others. If losing, do not double up. Go slow. If winning, can consider to double up.
Best is, when you are up by say $800 and decide that $500 is enough, bet that $300 per hand and see what happens. If lose, leave with $500. If win, bet all $600. Lose leave. Win, better to leave too!
Having said all that, it is inevitable that on some days, you will never win. Few nights ago, I started with $500. Lost all, another $500. Lost all. Total loss 1k. Best to leave and come back another day. Casinos open 24/7/365. Fortunately for me, the loss of 1k was ok coz that was my second trip for the day. Earlier trip in the day made close to $1800. Still win $800 for that day.
Based on my own experience, I opine that if you are able to win on that visit, the winnings will come fast and furious. In other words, within 2 hours can leave and just pay $8 for car park. But if you slog inside the casino for hours, sure to lose. I once paid $18 carpark for my visit to the casino. $6 for 1st hr and $2 for every hr thereafter.
Best strategy is to hit-and-run fast. You are only a winner when you leave the casino with your winnings. If you are wiining inside the casino, you aren't a winner yet.
