Teen pleads guilty to insulting modesty of 13-year-old girl

SINGAPORE: A 17-year-old polytechnic student on Thursday pleaded guilty to insulting a teenage girl's modesty, as well as other charges including sexual penetration of a minor, possession of obscene films, and criminal intimidation.
The boy had made the girl perform oral sex on him, filmed her doing so without her knowledge, and uploaded the video on a US-based pornographic website. He even included the girl's full name and telephone number.
The video was circulated on other pornographic websites, and the girl began receiving phone calls and text messages from strangers who harassed her about the video.
The offences were committed between April 2009 and August 2011.
The girl was only 13 when the boy first had sex with her.
Both the accused and the victim cannot be named to protect the girl's identity.
According to court documents, the pair were schoolmates and were initially in a relationship. Things later soured when he asked the girl to perform oral sex on him on several occasions and she refused.
He threatened to tell people that they had been having sex, which pressured her into agreeing. The couple later broke up when the girl found out about the uploaded video.
She later told a teacher about the video. The teacher informed the girl's mother, who then took her to lodge a police report.
In mitigation, the boy's lawyer Mr Tan Beng Swee told the court that the boy was "deeply remorseful" about his actions.
Mr Tan added that the boy, who was active in school activities and obtained good grades, was not "hardcore" enough for reformative training and argued for probation to be imposed instead.
The boy will be back in court for sentencing on September 17.
