Taxi robber arrested

A 30-YEAR-OLD MAN who is believed to have robbed a taxi driver in August has been arrested. Police caught him on Monday at Clementi Avenue 5. He is believed to have robbed a cabbie on Aug 8 at Teban Gardens. The suspect boarded the taxi from St James Power House and asked the driver to go to Teban Gardens, where he placed a sharp object to the driver's back and demanded for money. He escaped with the driver's earnings of $186. The suspect will be charged in court on Wednesday. If convicted, he faces up to 14 years jail time and a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
