UBER is known as what is called a industry game changer,Comfort del gro and the others are known as sinkie losers who prefer the old monopolistic model......if comfort and city cab was anywhere as smart as the guys at Uber they would be worth 50 billion by now.

agree. uber has revolutionised public transportation. comfort delgro is merely a follower.

The existing cab companies such as Comfort etc surely must have seen Uber and the like making strides nearly 2 years ago in the US and later in the UK. Central to the popularity is their app and customer preferring to use these app not only to hail the cabs but also to keep a record. Why did they not jump on the bandwagon and create these apps. Why did they wait until it was too late. We have one of the best and reliable and certainly affordable cab service compared to many other countries. Gone are the days where people call up and wait for the bookings.

I heard from taxi drivers Comfort is working double time to duplicate the successful interloping apps. Apps or no apps it is not going to change the attitude of customers of a Comfort taxi. Never showing up and complaining at the slightest excuse to.

The cabbies should quit their companies and join uber or grabcar.
Already I heard cab calling centers are suffering due to the new call cab apps.

Good point. In fact both sinkie and Malaysian companies were slow to react or did not react at all. People at the top must have been asleep. And how much are we paying comfortdelgro's CEO each year? For his salary you'd think he'd bother to actually keep his eyes open and anticipate challenges. In a normal corporation it is conceivable such a CEO would have been given the boot by now

It's going to be useless and the money spent will just benefit some crony again....like the stupid LTA cab monitoring app.
Grabtaxi already is the best.....comfort can't beat it as they can't include rival taxi companies like grabtaxi.
They should just count themselves lucky as they still can get a cut from grabtaxi. Better close down their call centers.

These are unnecessary overheads that will eat into profits. More effort should be spent expanding the fleet more cheaply.

I do not pity those taxi companies. I pity the hirers/drivers. The companies should've looked out for them and foresee the rise of Grab and Uber. Don't they have highly paid Directors and strategic planners? These drivers are focused on covering their daily taxi rental and eking out a living. As always, the little guys always suffer more.

Taxi companies aren't happy with Uber and Grab for many reasons. One of the most jialat for them is the many taxis that aren't rented out!

its not the apps that matter, the apps are only secondary,a conduit for business......UBER is a game changer,it takes the current business model turns it upside down and changes it completely.....Uber is the anti thesis of what comfort and other traditional taxi companies is and represents, decades old monopolies that have grown stale, old and fat on its own complacency......Uber enables a city to expand its fleet of taxis and taxi drivers exponentially, essentially anyone with a private vehicle can be a taxi driver......this brings the cost of doing business down to mere fraction of its former cost and bringing the benefits of scale of economy to customers.becoming Uber isnt simply as installing a app that helps u find taxis, becoming UBER means Comfort must first destroy itself as a business model, only then can the new takes its place.

Customers can't be bothered what happens behind the scenes. All they want is a service that is on call, has automated payment service, a sense of security and accountability. All that resides in the app on their handphone. From the start to the end there is an easily accessible audit trail that cannot be tampered with. The GPS on the cab and the customer's side helps tremendously. The app made all this take place with the customer in mind.

Nobody takes a taxi because the taxi company's business model is better.

Agree, they have let down the very people that bring their companies the revenue. Corporate and staff negligence.
