Vietnamese tax officer allegedly heads drug smuggling gang

Hanoi police on Tuesday arrested a tax officer accused of masterminding a drug smuggling ring in the outskirt Ba Vi District.
The police raid the house of district tax officer Tran Quoc Trung, 48, on April 6 and caught him in the act of selling a pack of methamphetamine to Pham Tien Long, 30.
They also found a grenade, swords and knives as well as a certain amount of methamphetamine, cannabis, marijuana and tools for using drugs.
Trung admitted to leading a criminal gang involving in drug smuggling, the police said.
Investigation is going on.
