THE former owner of a company that makes tools and moulds was jailed three weeks for evading tax in 2001 and 2002 amounting to $313,720.
Henry Ng Choon Tat, 54, was also ordered to pay a penalty of $941,169, which is three times the tax undercharged or serve an additional four months in jail.
The owner of Full Skil Wire Cut Services from 1994 to 2004 had pleaded guilty last week to two counts of tax evasion. A third charge of evading $43,631 in taxes in 2001 was taken into consideration by the district judge in the sentencing.
Ng, who was unable to pay the penalty, will serve the default jail sentence instead.
The maximum sentence is a $10,000 fine and a three-year jail term on top of the penalty.
