Taiwan corrupted Sun Yat Sen's vision into a system of dyfuncationing warlords. So, KMT and CCP need to put in a better system that best reflect the Father of modern China.
Uh Taiwan has already been absorbed by the PRC...its so called independence is nothing but mainland approved as prc already controls its economy. after ww2, China was unified under the KMT national government, the so-called independent warlords era had truly ended, and Chiang Kai Shek and KMT secured control of whole China except the Communist regions. Chiang abrogated all unequal treaties during ww2, only HK, Macau and Soviet rights in Manchuria remained. is Chiang a warlord or KMT a warlord party ? Mao and CCP got rid of what warlords or western imperialism to unite what China ?

What's so great about Commie China? For goodness sake, the US can resort to playing punk and denounce all the T bonds as redundant. What can China do? Don't underestimate the combined power of Western Europe, USA and Japan. If they will all impose sanctions on Chinese imports, it'll be a matter of time for China to close shop. Even their own Chinese domestic consumption will not be able to fully absorb their own production output. On the contrary, the imports by Western Europe, USA and Japan combined are magnificently more than what China imports from them. So, who will be the eventual loser, you have to get this clear.
Presently, why are these countries not doing so is because their own investments in China are too great to fail, or else their commercial sectors will suffer tremendous loss. So, they will have to take this into serious consideration. Fortunately, several of the companies are starting to leave China, especially due to the ever escalating cost of the Chinese workers. When the time is right, China will be dealt with devastatingly via trade sanctions. That's why Angela Merkel had to show to Xi Jinping an historical map of China to remind him of what landmass China used to comprise of.

Actually with ROC Taiwan's 23 million population, Taiwan can survive on its own already. In fact, 23 million Taiwanese population is more than enough for it to prosper without mainland China. I don't know what's the hype about mainland tourists & why must Taiwan rely on mainland tourists when it has its own 23 million population? The same goes to Hongkong.
Under DPP's rule, Taiwanese endure hardship & survive. In fact, Taiwan was more stronger during DPP's rule (2000-2008). If Cai Ing Wen becomes the next President of Taiwan, Taiwan will emerge stronger & there will be no more protests on the street. Better still, both Taiwan & HK can declare independence cos I don't foresee mainland China has the guts to touch Taiwan & Hongkong. If PRC declares war on Taiwan & HK, US & Japan will join hand to wipe China off this globe, Russia will do nothing to help PRC. So, why not Taiwan & HK declare independence straightaway? Strike while the iron is hot.
Hahahah. In geopolitics, "containment" is not a matter of are you willing, but a question of are you able? The US has difficulty containing even mountain-protected Iran and has to seek a middle ground with Iran. China? Not even the US can contain China. But that does not matter, since the US wants a stable China allied with it on certain critical issues.
Other countries can "contain" their own delusions first before they think about containing China.

in my opinion a country is considered "contained" if its population is kept confined within its borders and its pests is not seen in ur country.......unfortunately with 1 billion chinese its very difficult to keep the cockroaches from bursting from its nest like alien parasites and scattering and infesting ur households.
Containment need not have to do with population movement. Russia can deploy its military to annex Crimea and turn Ukraine on its head overnight without exporting a single civilian. Japan and China by virtue of their vast economic prowess make many small economies highly dependent on them, to the point where those small economies are contained economically by the twin tidal forces.
In geopolitics, it is geography that ultimately contains nations. Geography provides a permanent advantage or a permanent obstacle to a nation that the nation cannot easily overcome. Why is Russia perpetually weak internally? That is the revenge of its geography. Read the book by Robert D Kaplan with that title, who explains it very well, interwoven with beautifully written accounts of his vast personal travels to places on planet Earth that you and I can only dream about.
