…..Has any stallholder been approached by AHPETC staff or its contractors for the extra charges? If so, please make it public. AHPETC has investigated the claim and found the claim published in the press report to be baseless.

The latest attempt to substantiate this baseless claim was to show a quotation by the cleaning contractor ATL Maintenance Pte Ltd, who has clarified that it was in response to a separate request by the hawker association and not pursuant to its contractual obligation with the Town Council to do annual cleaning of the high areas at markets / hawker centres.

All cleaning contractors employed by AHPETC are well aware of its obligation under the contract to clean the high areas of all the markets under AHPETC management at least once a year. Anyone who is interested is welcome to inspect the contracts.

Sylvia 莲 is alleging that the dispute on quotation arise because hawkers are stupid.

The ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council would be performing their ‘Special Service’ to clean the ceiling for free to the hawkers. Yet they are so stupid as to still asking for a quotation from the contractors and are so eagerly to pay for something that is already provided for them for free! Why are they so damn stupid!

So what?

So what if all the hawkers in Bedok are stupid as Sylvia 莲 alleges? Stupid people do not need to be served by their MP? Stupid people deserved to be cheated by the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council?

Any conscientious human being, let alone any First World politician, upon hearing that her constituents want to pay for something which is already free, would quickly rush forward to stop them from wasting their time and money.

Any conscientious human being would find out the reason of the hawkers’ alleged ‘stupidity’. Whether they are really that stupid or they are simply too generous and too rich and wish to donate some of their spare peanuts to the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council. The ‘stupid’ hawkers should then be educated and informed that the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council would be performing the ‘Special Service’ to them for free and they don’t have to waste their time and money.

Does Sylvia 莲, the unconscientious one, did any of these? Nope.

Stupid constituents should be served and helped even more so. Unlike the immoral Sylvia 莲, who chooses to abandon them, mock them and allowed them to be conned.

Upon knowing that the hawkers are so stupid that they would want to pay for something that’s already free, Sylvia The Unconscientious happily treats them like suckers and allowed them to be double-charged, so that her FMeSS cronies can earn some extra commissions.


By deliberately allowing her constituents to be paying something extra, Sylvia 莲 has again shown that she is no First World politician.

Why didn’t Sylvia 莲 stop the ATL from giving this PAP maggot the quotation? And why didn’t Sylvia 莲 do anything after knowing that this PAP maggot have been given the quotation for something that is supposed to be free? NEA is a politically motivated organization that is totally pro-PAP. Why should they interfere in PAP’s TC It’s the job of the co-driver to slap the PAP. It is the job of a First World Opposition to check that PAP TC is doing their job.

ATL has to be quiet becos they are the main culprit.

Every hawker has paid $140 each to cover their stall with canvas, just for the purpose of cleaning the ceiling.

Yet ATL refuses to clean the ceiling becos there is no scaffolding. What kind of excuse is that?

ATL should have seen with their own eyes that every stalls are covered with canvas, and for what? They cannot say that they are not for the major Spring cleaning that does not involve ceiling cleaning. For cleaning the floor and tables only? There is no need for canvas for just cleaning the floor and tables.

ATL should know that they are supposed to clean the ceiling when they see the canvas.

If the scaffolding are not provided, then they should try to arrange that and claim from the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council later. Any responsible contractor would have done that. Customer-oriented contractors would even absorbed the cost themselves to generate good-will for more futre business and referrals.

Even if they don’t use scaffolding, they should at least use long poles to clean the ceiling like the other hawker centres managed by the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council.

No matter what, ATL should have cleaned the ceiling and should not just walked off like that.

For not cleaning the ceiling and behave so irresponsibly, every hawkers has to lose $140 for the canvas plus their lost income. And all for NOTHING. Who would not be upset?

Imagine if one were to engage a painter to paint the house. The owner make all the arrangement, taking unpaid leaves to remove the furniture, clear the place and paying money for storage. Then the painter come and walk off becos the paint are not provided. This is a small issues that can be easily negotiated compared to the hassle that the owner is taking.


The behavior of ATL is utterly irresponsible. The ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council has to bear the full responsibility for engaging these weasels. And the Hammerrhoid Towkay has the audacity and shame to tell the hawkers to MOVE ON without any explanation or apology, is simple despicable.

Where is the ‘Transparency’? Where is the ‘Accountability’?

Whether it is ethical to quote or not is one issue.

But for the Hammerrhoid contractor to walk off without cleaning ceiling just because there is no scaffolding: after the hawkers have paid their S&CC regularly; after the hawkers each had paid $140 for the canvas; after the hawkers had shut down their stalls for 5 days…is simply unforgivable and unacceptable. It is very childish, petty and unprofessional.

For whatever reason that scaffolding was not provided, any responsible contractors should have a Plan B and not just to quit and chicken out. They could have set up the scaffolding themselves and claim from the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council or use long poles or any other solutions.

But instead they chose to walk off.

Worse, the Hammerrhoid didn’t even bother to tell the hawkers that they had walked off. The hawkers had to come back from their 5-day break to discover that the ceiling was not cleaned. Again, this is very childish, petty and unprofessional.

They should at least inform the hawkers that they were quitting so that the hawkers can come up with a Plan B themselves.

Even more worse, did the Hammerrhoid contractors inform the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council? If they did, why didn’t the ‘good people’ at the ‘good office’ inform the hawkers so that they can discuss and think of a solution to solve this crisis. Again, the ‘good office’ of the Hammerrhoid Town Council is very childish, petty and unprofessional.

Hammerrhoid Towkay: “LET’S MOVE ON!”, without bothering to offer any explanation or apology.

If you were in the hawkers’ shoes, can you?
