I have finally upgraded to a standard PPTP package on StrongVPN.com which allows me to switch servers 7 times for free per month.

Generally speaking, VPN connections are limited by the speed of your ISP because you still need to connect to your ISP.

However, it is also possible in some cases for VPN connection speed to exceed normal ISP speed because you avoid any inefficiencies posed by the ISP like the ISP caching your data and performing under unwanted surveillance functions.

Cost? I pay USD 100 per year, which I regard as a fair price given how frequently I use it nowadays to "break down information barriers", if you know what I am talking about

Don't fear monger. I am not talking about illegal activity like trafficking or what not, where the local authorities (working in tandem with international bodies) have the right to investigate and prosecute. I am talking about accessing websites banned by MDA or posting in forums. Surely you can tell the difference.

I use a free proxy from www.hidemyass.com. I only use it whenever I feel nec. so not permanent. It enables me to hide my ip address behind a proxy which changes.

Is it any better? It's FOC at least.

I use a free proxy from www.hidemyass.com. I only use it whenever I feel nec. so not permanent. It enables me to hide my ip address behind a proxy which changes.

Is it any better? It's FOC at least.

I have tried TOR, anonymouse.org (which I think some members here are using, because I sometimes see cheese pictures floating around), etc, and I feel that in terms of connection reliability and convenience, strongVPN is still the best. Besides, the other anonymizing systems like TOR work on different principles, if I'm not mistaken.

I was using a browser which that hid your real IP address & used a fake IP address & replaced it with a US IP. Got to watch US movie channels & by-passed the MDA proxy The only cost was that you had to watch some advertisements.

Unfortunately I had to re-installed my OS & forgot to keep a record of the name of this program. Now I can't watch the movies from Hulu, TVland,...:(

If anyone has a copy of this program. let me know the name of it :o

Care to comment on the pros and cons of strongvpn vs hidemyass premium service? HMA lets you change von country unlimited number of times. Of most concern is the speed of both.. thanks in advance.

have you tried adding a US address port to IE proxy server? this is simpler.

This looks like what I was previously using except that previously the IP address was a US one & not a UK IP address

With a US IP address I was able to access hulu

Not 100% fool proof.
Tried using this on my forum , IP address remained the same.
Can't expect much from something that is free
