No you don't...if you are staying in HDB. Just call your area town council.From one of the town council web page:

*
Provision of Free Bulky items removal service
Our Town Council provides free bulky items removal service. Residents may call us for daily removal appointment at Tel: Tuesdays to Saturdays, 8 am to 12 noon.

Kindly note the following:
this service is for HDB residents and not for commercial tenants;
removal can be carried out on a daily basis from Tuesdays to Saturdays, between 1 pm to 5 pm (depending on the location);
each appointment is limited to three movable items (eg sofa chairs, television, refridgerator etc) per month.
Additional items will be charged accordingly by the conservancy contractor;
this service does not apply to residents moving homes, and does not include dismantling or removal of build-in furniture (eg kitchen cabinets and wardrobes) nor renovation debris.
Kindly engage your own contractor for such items; for safety reasons, please do not leave your bulky items at the common corridor/common areas/lift lobbies/bin centres/centralised refuse chute areas.
