Party away at ZoukOut

NINE years on, Singaporeans are still excited about the nation's largest beach party of the year - ZoukOut 2009, a 12-hour dance festival held at Siloso Beach, Sentosa.
With more than 16,000 pre-sale tickets sold and many more expected to buy tickets at the entrance, organisers are expecting up to 26,000 revellers to turn up for the party at the 56,00 sq m venue.
'About 40 per cent of the crowd are tourists, showing that Zoukout is an international event,' said Ms Mari Muramoto, Zouk's marketing manager. She added that 20,000 tickets had been sold by 10.30pm.
With angels in white on stilts and a friendly crowd in their best beach clothes, organisers were pleased with the well-behaved vibe.
This year's dance fest started at 8pm and includes a stellar line-up of 60 local and foreign music talents.
International big names such as Belgium-based band Aeroplane, hugely popular DJ Armin Van Buuren from the Netherlands and acclaimed Canadian remixer Tiga were performing alongside local acts such as indie band The Guilt and local Zouk resident deejay Tony Tay.
