The reason why it looks messy is because there are still many missing pieces in the jigsaw puzzle which in my opinion, are beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.
Every discovery that brings answers generates yet more questions.
Until the human being is capable of understanding what ∞ actually means, the answer as to what makes the universe tick will remain as elusive as ever.
So the discovery of this particle will not bring about a new age in interstellar flight? endless supply of free energy etc?? so it achieved nothing of worth?

Gravity, the weakest force of all, is the one that's causing all the problems. It simply won't fit in nicely.
They are hoping to see some signs of supersymmetry at the LHC. If not, it is back to the drawing boards for a lot of theoretical physicists.
