Snatch thief who stole $80 mobile phone arrested

A 40-year-old man has been arrested for snatch theft.
On July 29 at about 4.40pm the police received a report from a 66-year-old man that his phone worth $80 had been snatched away by a man wearing a jockey cap.
The 66-year-old man had been sitting at a pavilion along North Bridge Road.
Police investigations led them to mount an operation at Bukit Batok East Ave 4, where the 40-year-old suspect was arrested at about 2.15am.
The stolen phone was also seized from him.
If found guilty of snatch theft, the suspect can be jailed up to seven years and is also liable to be caned.
