Here is the full statement from the police:

On 21 April 2013, Police arrested 6 males, aged 22 to 25, in the vicinity of Clarke Quay for theft. With this arrest, Police have arrested a total of 18 subjects for committing similar offences at this location since the beginning of 2013.

The anti-crime operation was carried out by Tanglin Police Division as part of sustained efforts to address the trend of opportunistic thefts targeting drunk and unconscious victims around nightspots and public entertainment outlets.

Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lu Yeow Lim, commended his officers for the good arrests and their vigilance against such thefts. He reiterated that the Police will continue to take tough action against such crimes.

When patronising nightspots, members of the public should be mindful that excessive alcohol consumption reduces mental alertness, causes drowsiness and makes one a potential target of crime. If they intend to consume alcohol, consume in moderation and remain alert to your surroundings and the people around you. Avoid being alone and leaving personal belongings unattended. If you find someone acting suspiciously, approach the security officers immediately.

The offence of theft is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and a fine.
