SINGAPORE: A SMRT bus driver has been sentenced to 12 months' jail and banned from driving for 10 years for causing the death of an elderly woman in a hit-and-run accident.
Phang Yiap Choy, 29, admitted to causing the death of Ng Sew Hong, 67, through a rash act that occurred at the junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Central in October 2011.
The Malaysian pleaded guilty, admitting that he failed to stop his bus and render assistance to Mdm Ng after the accident. He instead continued on his journey.
