Six help to nab criminals
By Amanda Lee
POLICE have commended six public-spirited members of the public for helping to nab criminals in two seperate incidents. A loanshark runner was nabbed by a group of five residents while a vigilant neighbour foiled a housebreaking attempt. On Monday, a 53-year-old resident at Canberra Road spotted a man scribbling graffiti on the wall along the corridor.
The man fled but was caught by the resident and four secondary school students. On Tuesday, a 49-year-old man attempted to break into a flat but was foiled by Madam Mazni who noticed the man behaving suspiciously outside her neighbour's unit at Block 612 in Clementi.
She alerted the police and continued to watch from her own unit. Commanders of the Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Clementi Police Division commended the residents for their public-spiritedness, saying their action highlights the "importance and effectiveness of Police-community partnership" in fighting crime.
