A fair comparison only with SE Asia countries, we can see that our poodles are not "tough enough" to handle criminals and rioters.
The training they have is mostly relying on gadgets to track people down and carry weapons as a form of deterrence.
However they seems not capable of using them effectively in the real situation.

MRT lines also help to increase the value of the surrounding land. Real estate developers then develop those plots of land, building 'high density hybrid residential projects'... and more people are imported to create demand for those excess residential units.

Oh, and MRT line construction projects do enrich the cronies a lot.
