Sang Nila Utama is not a myth, nor is the Sri Vijaya Empire that centered on the current day Indonesian chain of islands. Archeological diggings had long found existence of this empire in today's Sumatra, Palembang, whom they themselves were descendants of Alexander the Great's Generals whom invaded & conquered India, & thru breeding & the natural evolution of rise & falls of empires, generations centuries later fled to the vast & lush fertile valleys as well as huge gold deposits there, in South East Asia.

Singapura was an un-inhabited mere island in Sang Nila Utama's time, he a prince of the Sri Vijaya Empire, but with great foresight, used it's natural ports as a means for further trade with greater kingdoms back then such as the Chola kingdoms in Thailand, Vietnams & others.

Much had been talked about Parameswara, the last prince of the dying Sri Vijaya Empire. Historical records proved that he fled to Malacca, & established his hold upon the Malay Archipelago, & thru his foresight & even travels to China to engage with the Ming Emperor, to support his hold over vast limited uninhabited lands of South East Asia.

Thus it is not true that migrants in South East Asia were made of criminals.
