SINGAPORE — The police are investigating an alleged physical assault at Marina Bay Sands early on Sunday (March 10) after a drag performer went online to describe a "homophobic" incident there.

In response to TODAY's queries, the police said that they were alerted to a case of voluntarily causing hurt at 10 Bayfront Avenue, which is the address of Marina Bay Sands, at about 6.10am on Sunday.

A 29-year-old man had refused to be taken to the hospital, they said.

In a series of posts shared on her Instagram stories, a drag performer who goes by the name Mistress Kira Moon alleged that she and her friends were looking for a place to eat after a night of clubbing when a man, dressed in a black T-shirt, appeared and directed a homophobic slur at them.

The performer said that she then went to confront the man when several of the man's friends joined in the argument and a physical assault ensued.

She claimed that the man and his companions had attacked her where her "head was pulled to the floor, (her) wig flew off and (her) head hit the glass panel".

She also alleged that a friend who tried to defend her "got punched, surrounded while laying on the floor and kicked (in) the face". The friend had "got it worst" in the incident, the performer added.

In one post, the man is seen engaged in a heated conversation with three policemen while holding his mobile phone to video the exchange.

The drag performer claimed that the police said that the assault was not an arrestable offence and she was advised to "pursue the matter".

The issue about Voluntarily Causing Hurt is objective & the law is clear on it.

When 2 groups are fighting with each other, VOLUNTARILY CAUSING HURT to each other, should the police take sides?

No. The police are not the Judge. All they can do is to intervene, to STOP the 2 groups from fighting, take down statements & with such statements, advise the parties to file a CIVIL SUIT instead, to let the COURT determine who is right or wrong, as BOTH parties will have their version of events.

OR, if it is a large group fighting each other, it would be considered RIOT, & the RED TRUCK would arrive with anti-riot troops to stop the fight & EVERYONE ARRESTED.

So be smart - Violence resolves nothing.

Most of the time, it is just a stare, or mere words, which are NON -PHYSICAL. Just walk away.

If the other party insists on being physical, then be even smarter - take that push or punch & IMMEDIATELY lay down on the floor. DO NOT stand up or fight back. As there are surveillance cameras everywhere, the fight would have been recorded, call the police for assistance & for sure, the assailant WOULD BE hunted down & arrested for VOLUNTARILY CAUSING HURT.

This incident is still fresh, & most may not be able to discern the totality YET, that goes BEYOND just the Rule of Law that was upheld at that moment between 2 fighting few individuals.

Sooner or later, sides will be taken - LGBT communities with ideololgy based upon unfettered freedom of individuals & mainstream heterosexual communities based upon ideology of religion, reason & logic, with even foreign interferences.

Ultimately, each life is precious & means something special to another. We are HUMANS first before differences sets us apart. Violence or individual actions will NOT resolve anything.

May both sides realize REALITIES - NO INDIVIDUAL or few individuals will be able to change the perceptions of society. Fighting each other or playing the victim card will only result hostilities from both sides, & would tear our social fabric to tatters.

It will need the SUPPORT from the masses, for any changes to societal norms at the electoral levels, & not from individuals whom presume they are defenders of their side, using violence as a means, as most Humans are more concerned upon putting food on the table for oneself, loved ones, & society, than to support strife & chaos.
