Are the years of familee organised raping of Sporeans really better than the corruption that exists in an undeveloped 3rd world country

Look at the billions lost by madam Ho & compare to the $20 bribe in Malaysia or Indonesia. At least that $20 will feed the policeman's family while the person who lost billions has no regrets

Why do they want to catch up with Spore? When our citizens are worried about losing their jobs to foreigners in their own backyard, or for the world class infrastructure that many are having trouble to pay for.

I know of many Sporeans who have quitted to Indonesia. They may hold Spore passports but are making a decent living in Indonesia. It's a country of oppurtunites unlike Spore where every business is at the mercy of the Lee regime.

Singapore that needs to find a niche for ourselves in this part of the world / region. What that is, is for the millonaire politicans to think.

Venice have something that Singapore will never have - her culture and heritage. As time passes, the advantage is on Venice (assuming she don't get totally submerged) - Singapore was labelled to be sterile and lack of attractions.

u are right - Singapore have no culture becos we did not have the chance to develope one. in fact, its not easy to develope one bcos we are not homogenous. And the government does not allow individual sub-culture from developing. If you look at countries like Japan, Korea, China - they have strong culture helped obviously by long history. But more importantly, they are homogenous (or largely so) - hence all Japanese speak Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. Even Thailand there is Thai, Malaysia - Malay, Indon = Bahasa Indon. Singapore? English? Malay? Chinese? There isn't. Ditto for Europe - France = French, Germany = German, Italy = Italian.

Even when we try to create Singlish, we kenna bash. Why? Who is to say, 100 to 200 years later, Singlish won't evolve to become our own distinct language? Why bash it? Why can't Singlish exist together with English? Just because some chow ang moh say Singlish is not good, we bash? Like that how to have our own culture? already we are not homogenous given our distinct ethnic groups, we need to have something in common to bind us - and I think Singlish is apt. Heck, even a small country like Iceland have Icelandic.

And don't tell me food is one of our culture because almost every country can count food as their culture.

Simple answer, grouping blocs of trade, US, EU, BRIC etc. Indonesia and Malaysia may well need a grouping under such situations.

Actually the Matrix is a mixture of philosophy from a host of different religions, both pagan, and non-pagan. Its not just a "One Source" story.
