Singapore man stabbed to death in his home in Lombok

SINGAPORE - A Singaporean engineer was stabbed to death in his home in Lombok, Indonesia by an Indonesian man on Saturday night.
The Singaporean, 52-year-old Ahmad Suri, was the deputy general manager for an Indonesian engineering firm and had been working in Lombok for two years now, said his son, Mr Abdul Rahim Ahmad, 27.
Mr Ahmad was found dead in his terrace house on Saturday after his neighbours heard shouts coming from the home.
"(Neighbours) ran over and saw the suspect holding a knife outside my father's house, he didn't attempt to run, so they took the knife and held him down," said Mr Rahim, who was told what happened by his father's neighbours.
Neighbours had rushed Mr Ahmad to the hospital in a taxi, but he died on the way there. He was stabbed seven times in the face, neck and body.
Indonesian media reports said the suspect was a 30-year-old man called Parto, who has since been arrested.
According to Mr Rahim, his father was living with two other employees from his company, but he was alone at home at the time.
Mr Rahim flew to Lombok on Sunday morning with nine other family members to claim his father's body. The body was brought back to Singapore and buried on Monday.
"The family is in a state of shock now, my father is a very kind person, we can't believe this has happened to him," he said.
Indonesian police investigations are ongoing.
