Singapore welcome our guest to the event with excessive rain water.
Water seeps into MBS convention hall
Cleaners scrambled into action yesterday after water seeped into Convention Hall F at Marina Bay Sands where the Singapore International Water Week exhibition was being held.
According to a Marina Bay Sands spokesperson, the incident, which took place at approximately 12pm, was caused by an overflow of rainwater. About 10 of the 650 exhibitors were affected. "Our teams promptly provided assistance to the event organiser and any affected exhibitors," added the spokesperson.
Exhibitors said they were caught off guard by the sudden inflow of "cold and murky water", and many rushed to remove materials and objects which were placed on the floor.
When TODAY visited the area again at 4pm, contractors were already busy at work re-carpeting the affected area. The water had already been mopped up but the stench of sewage remained, mixed with the scent of detergent and room spray.
