My vegetarian prawn Mee noodle cost me $6 but not hawker, it's a restaurant Cafe.
The vegetarian prawn mee had risen the price to $7.60. ( the price changed at beginning of this month) sorry man, not going to eat that anymore. It is not that i cannot afford it but i am protesting against such unjust inflation and the incompetence of the PAP clowns to run the country until like that.

No matter how inflated hawker food prices are, many dumb sinkies will still queue long long and pay those sly high prices for that Michelin cert.

Hawker's price hike doesn't make sense. In the past, you have people helped clear table for you and the price of food is cheaper and good. Now, you are forced to clean the table to help hawker lower their cleaner cost but instead of repaying consumers for kindness, they hike the food price and make the meal smaller.

No wonder instant noodles run out very fast in supermarkets.

Singapore Hawker Food Prices Soar to 14-Year High

Singapore’s UNESCO-nominated hawker centers were no exception to the global inflation fight, posting the largest price jump among all dining outlets.

Hawker food inflation soared to a 14-year high of 8.1% in December from a year earlier, while restaurants, fast food chains and food caterers observed price increases below 7.5%, according to data from the Department of Statistics.

Many hawkers have been forced to hike their prices, especially hurting those on lower incomes for whom such food is a necessity.

Singapore's hawker centers saw inflation above 2% every month last year

The family-friendly food stalls are emblematic of Singapore’s multicultural society, known for selling beloved Chinese, Malay, Indian and other diverse dishes at low prices, with workers toiling long hours to perfect their dishes.

The food inflation at hawker centers was still below many common ingredients such as chilled poultry, eggs, noodles and pasta which registered double-digit growth. Core inflation held at 5.1% in December, with food prices rising for a 10th consecutive month.

It's not just prices... for example, the gravy might be more diluted, you get one less fishball or one less piece of meat. The taste becomes not as good as before.

Very subtle and sneaky changes, only the regular customers can recognize them.
