Singapore’s Casinos Will ‘Flop’

The use of "rolling" credit to earn record profits however is likely to cause record social problems in Singapore. CRA is under MHA. When the social problems surface, Minister Wong Kan Seng will have to be held accountable and pay the political price.

WKS : Are you crazy? Nothing to with me or my MHA. Casinos are legalised gambling under MCYS. My MHA and police GSB in charge of illegal gambing only. If there're crimes committed in or from casino-related, we go investigate and arrest them or charge them accordingly, to the laws. Why are casinos there to cause the crimes? Go ask MCYS.

I was also quite confused as to which Ministry CRA falls under. After some research, I found it was under MHA. The following is the link the Sg govt directory.

If Goh Meng Seng want to apply his "Minister specific" strategy, he should be targetting Minister Wong Kan Seng for social problems brought about by the casinos.

You want or expect GMS can open how many specific fronts?

In any case, you missed my point. CRA is of course under MHA. CRA enforces against illegal practices in casinos, not the legalised ones. My point is, who put the casinos there to necessitate CRA.

Pt taken about MCYS. So when the social problems surface, he can go after Minister Wong Kan Seng AND the ever popular Minister Vivien Balakrishnan.

When criminal problems arise, as they inevitably would, Vivian B. could tell WKS (MHA), that's your problem. Investigate and arrest them.

When social problems arise, as they inevitably would, Vivian B. could tell NEH (MOE), that's your problem. Never teach the kids proper values.

Test:

1. Go find a multi-millionaire entrepreneur who wants to gamble away his millions of dollars so that he doesn't have to do business anymore.

2. Go find thousand-dollar per month salaried people who wants to get rich quick so that they don't have to work anymore.

My say is, high roller is a fallacy. How often can you depend on a rich person to be an idiot? You're in business because you want to be rich. He's already rich.

when the rich gamble it is for entertainment first ..but if he keep on losing ,then emotion and pride will kick in ..thats the time big money will be on the table ..

Based on our favourite gambling thread, the casinos are offering rolling credit to gamblers for as low as $50,000. To make it affordable, they also do not set a time limit to "roll" to earn the comission. Along with the annual $2k levy, this is being marketed as an affordable "package" to middle income Singaporeans.

Singapore casinos are of course not the only casinos to offer "rolling" credit. I think what caught many analysts by surprise is just how sucessful and popular their programs have been. There are now no longer any concerns about the financial viability of the casinos.

The use of "rolling" credit to earn record profits however is likely to cause record social problems in Singapore. CRA is under MHA. When the social problems surface, Minister Wong Kan Seng will have to be held accountable and pay the political price.

It is very easy to blame others when we fail in something.

If there are people who wants to gamble their wealth away, just let them be? The casino does not force anyone to go in and play. It all stems from greed. So if these people have no control over themselves and lose all the credit they are given, they deserve it and blaming the casinos is the easiest way out for them.

I didn't write that. Please refrain from fabricating quotes like some others do.

I don't think the two Ministers involved are terribly concerned about Singaporeans lives destroyed via gambling. They would however be very concerned about losing votes when the social problems surface and they are held accountable.
