Hi Bro,

Good info .... thanks!

It will be even more helpful is you can research and provide info on how many of those PAPies
who did not vote because of health, out-station or other exigency excuses.

So many MPs from Tanjong Pagar GRC failed to vote. Surely it cannot be because of chance.

I thought I read in this forum someone said the Singh voted against? Chey, wrong info.

No need to know so much of why they did not vote.

The most telling and obvious fact is knowing that all the NOES never come from PAP MPs.

That tells alot and everything about PAP. It's over.

Re: SHOCKING - Lee Kuan Yew and other PAP heavyweights did not vote for the White Pap

He was absent lah, a number of MPs were absent. Nobody expected LTK to call for a vote, usually they expected to say 'aye' and passed it because of their overwhelming majority.

So I would NOT credit them for making an individual stand at all, they were caught by surprise. Credit went to LTK for this move that was now recorded in history.

Let me fill you in.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew (MP, Tanjong Pagar GRC) - on MC for headache

Dr Chia Shi-Lu (MP, Tangong Pagar GRC) - busy in clinic attending to a rich client-patient

Ms Indranee Rajah (MP, Tanjong Pagar GRC) - out for power dating event

Mr Inderjit Singh (MP, Ang Mo Kio GRC) - confused on whether he should vote yes or no, given that he gave 2 entirely different speeches on this matter

Mr Raymond Lim Siang Keat (MP, East Coast GRC) - still angry with LHL for throwing him under the bus (pun intended) after GE 2011. Hence boycotting any major vote until 2016

Dr Ng Eng Hen (Minister for Defence, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC) - hidding in toilet. Trying not to vote so that he can differentiate himself from TCH.

Ms Tan Su Shan (NMP) - busy counting money and shifting assets to safer domiciles (both for herself and her ultra high networth clients)

Mr Alvin Yeo (MP, Chua Chu Kang GRC) - stayed too far from Parliament, and trapped in BKE to PIE jam.

Could it be they did not know LTK would call for a division and so felt free to absent themselves?

Great call by LTK. They all quickly left before the chambers doors were sealed. Maybe those who didnt vote left early cause of incontinence.

Re: SHOCKING - Lee Kuan Yew and other PAP heavyweights did not vote for the White Pap

It is too coincidental for so many MPs from Tanjong Pagar GRC to miss this vote after such a charged debate.

I heard that the old man is still not sold on the idea of such a large population increase and opposes the White Paper. I am sure he has seen the empirical studies which is why his ideas are closer to the Blue Paper put up by WP. The old man feels his son is being led astray by TCH and is pained that his son would take the counsel of TCH over his. Consequently he feels that TCH is now the greatest threat to HIS PAP.

The old man's views are shared by Ng Eng Hen who represent the powerful interests of the Ng Teng Fong property clan. These are understandably worried by the downward spiral in the PAP's support.

The opposition by these two heavyweights emboldend other similarly opposed to not vote. Not all of course did it for policy reasons. Raymond Lim for example did it more because he is still angry that he was dropped from Cabinet.

Incidentally, there is a very simple procedure to delay the vote until all want to vote are present and accounted for. There was absolutely nothing to compel the vote to proceed. My hypothesis is that the vote proceeded because it was better that it was recorded that they did not vote rather than they abstained.

Could it be they did not know LTK would call for a division and so felt free to absent themselves?

Re: SHOCKING - Lee Kuan Yew and other PAP heavyweights did not vote for the White Pap

You give too much positive attribute to the old man. The influx began years ago during GCT and it certainly was LKY's brainchild. The 6.9 million target is not a far fetched idea as it is in tandem with the FT increase in the past 15 years. The old man not voting if it can be attributed to him deliberately not wanting to vote versus him being ill can only mean that he doesn't want to be seen to be linked to the adulteration of SG by FTs. Yes you will find him on occasions supporting more FTs in SG as is the case on many occasions. The spur on their backs quote was not a false rumour but a direct quote from him.

You are talking about one of the biggest scums on earth so please do not forget that. I have said on many occasions that he doesn't care if SG falls miserably in 20 years time as long as it is a decent number of years after his death. This is to justify his place in SG history as a hero. All dictators have this mindset which is to entrench their position in history positively after their deaths.

I will even bet my last dollar that he desires for SG to fail after his death just so that Singaporeans will miss him. He was the one that started cronyism and high paid civil servants that he knows very well will lead to the rotting of the civil service and the low quality of mercenary ministers that will come forward. He is not a stupid man and he knows very well what desires and weaknesses are in the common man.

Re: SHOCKING - Lee Kuan Yew and other PAP heavyweights did not vote for the White Pap

I don't think he was opposing the White Paper for the good of Singaporeans. He was opposing the White Paper because he had seen the empirical studies which showed it would be a tremendous vote loser for the PAP. He was doing it to protect the political dynasty he founded. He was doing it for his grandson who he hopes will become the 5th PM of Singapore.

You give too much positive attribute to the old man.

TCH is the one who is closet to LHL at the moment. They are known to have a buddy buddy relationship.

TCH represent the interests of the OCBC banking clan who want to make Singapore a playground for the rich and powerful. He is the strongest proponent in the PAP for the open immigration policy which is why he is in charge of NPTD that put out the White Paper.

I would not pin the problem of massive foreigner inflow on GCT. During GCT era, the foreigner inflow was tolerable, and possibly beneficial. It was the massive inflow from 2005 to 2012 that made life very tough for sinkies, especially the men who were discriminated against in the private sector due to NS liability.
