I can feel for that disheartened guy, but it would be useless to dwell & heart pained on such a personal issue. She is probably in her 30s & being realistic, as her options to get married & start a family is slipping away. She is looking more for financial security than anything else, even love. As sayings go - love does not pay the rent, & diamonds are forever....
Most Humans would get hitched by the time they are in the mid-twenties, while still young, adventurous with a whole life ahead, to try & try to succeed in life. It does not mean a guy in his twenties earning $1,500/mth would have no chance to marry. That is just the starting pay. So long as he is honest, hardworking, willing to learn while still young, OPPORTUNITIES abound for him, to rise, to be promoted or take that leap into entrepreneurship, in Singapore. So too a female admin clerk with the same characteristics. Most would be surprised that some of the successful managers in local & MNCs actually started out as admin clerks.
Furthermore, for a lady who is looking for someone with $8K/mth is either a sugar bunny or a highly educated person. Sugar bunnies abound & are kept as toys till their looks fade. For a highly educated lady, such are really rare in Singapore, as each year, only the best cohort of students get to Uni, around 9% for females & 11% for males.
That would leave 80% of Singaporeans with no Uni degrees, with only either overseas degrees or Poly/A/O/N/ITE diplomas. It does NOT mean it is dead end for them, as in Singapore, opportunities abound for them to prove themselves & elevate themselves. Learning IS life-long. So never be disheartened. Education is important, but only a certification of ones intellect. Humans are made up of more than the brain & are not robots but beings with feelings/emotions - happiness, sadness, joy, elation, etc, & that piece of paper is NOT a necessary criteria to fall in love or is even a measure of love. Marriage is a journey TOGETHER with someone who has the character traits to make such a journey. No two Human would think alike, thus COMMUNICATION is vital in every stage of the journey.
Being young, it is comprehensible that males would be horny & get hitched the moment he can convince a female to open up her legs. And should a baby come along, it would be too late to ditch the girl, so the marriage act, & only later to regret when he earns a better pay, with better environment & start growing wandering eyes, harming the marriage...
Thus, may the youth calm down & be cool. Life itself is a journey & each need a companion for life. Start by having & making friends & never look down on oneself or others, as the journey of life is long & strewn with opportunities to progress & evolve. Even the founder of Gentings Highland in Msia, who was just an ordinary bloke, was in 60s when he finally won over the Msian govt to obtain a license to build a casino there, & became a multi-millionaire, & left millions for his heirs. It was tough fight that lasted for decades, but none need to go to such extremes as he did.
How much does one need to feed & build a family, a HDB shelter, best public transports, funded baby programs, education funds & much more from our society & taxpayers to help all & leave none behind?
