Did Khaw share some secret lobang with them? Why are they so pro-PAP?

Dr Tan Cheng Bock says he and eventual winner Dr Tony Tan were neck and neck until the votes from Sembawang came in on Polling night.

Revealing exactly how close the two top contenders for Singapore's Presidency were, Dr Tan Cheng Bock said on Sunday afternoon, "Sometimes I'm ahead, sometimes he's ahead … Even at 80 per cent (of the votes tallied) we were just tying, 35-35 (per cent)."

"It was only toward the last bit, when Sembawang came in then we took a little dip and he beat me by 0.34 per cent," said the 71-year-old, who was speaking to the media 12 hours after the final results were announced.

He told them that TT approved in principle that everyone will have $8 heart operations. No questions asked.

Are you stupid or what?

There are two constituencies with foregone conclusion

Tony Tan - Sembawang (even when other constituencies took a dip in 1984, Tony managed to get 70%)
Tan Cheng Bock - Ayer Rajah

TCB carried not only Ayer Rajah but also Chua Chu Kang GRC, Jurong GRC and West Coast GRC

Tony carried Sembawang, Nee Soon, Tampines GRC and the central GRCs like Moulmein-Kallang, Holland-Bukit Timah and Tanjong Pagar

TJS scored the highest in Bedok (he won at one counting centre with 37%) and also got 26.5% in Marine Parade. I also think he scored very high in Hougang, Potong Pasir and Joo Chiat.

Interesting.

Or it is loose votes like loose flowers in hanging flower joints

Please lah. Sembawang was Tony Tan's home territory. It has also been staunchly PAP since 1968. Only suicide squads like Harbans Singh will contest there. After Sembawang because Sembawang GRC, Tony had held on to Sembawang ward. So no surprise at all. Nothing to do with new citizens.

Similarly, no surprise that TCB swept the West which is his home territory while TJS fared better in the East (even winning Bedok who gave 30% to a madman who was supposed to withdraw from the elections in 1984).

If there is any surprise, it was TCB's dent in Sengkang driving a wedge head between Sembawang and Tampines.

Many parts of Yishun/Sembawang infested with Pinoys ,Indian FT's.and PRC's

I bet these new comers all voted for TT.

With the difference so small, can't help wondering why sembawang's results were the last few to be added. What a coincident.

the ppl of sembawang have disqualified themselves of the rights to complain about FTs now & forever.

clearly, they r all suffering from amnesia. they forgot that specky was the brainchild of the primary school streaming when he was the edu minister back in the 80s. a good number of Singaporeans were condemned by the streaming system, which brings about the need for FTs today.

Exactly. Sembawang GRC is not even the biggest electorate, so it is really fishy why the results came in last. Was delivery of ballot boxes delayed?

One thing is for sure, as can be seen by replies here as to how Sembawang is Tony's stronghold - scheduling Sembawang results to come in last definitely gave it the illusion of a convincing "last push".

Those singaporeans who were streamed out of the system to an early dead end, may have potentials and capabilities that could be equal or better than the current wave of FTs/PRs with questionable credentials.

To rub the salt in, these FTs/PRs that slip through the net are given preferential treatment in housing, exemption from national service, tax treatments etc.

While those condemned early in life through the streaming system have to be at the becking and calling of these FTs/PRs? Not forgetting, having to serve as security guards in ICTs.

a good number of Singaporeans were condemned by the streaming system, which brings about the need for FTs today.
