SINGAPORE: A 17-year-old Republic Polytechnic student has been charged with punching one of his schoolmates in the face, fracturing an area near the eye.
Tan Jia Hui, who's a second-year student, allegedly hit 19-year-old Ng Ming Yang, at Building W1 of the polytechnic's Woodlands campus at around 4pm on May 6.
Tan has claimed trial and the case will be mentioned again next Tuesday.
If convicted of the offence, he can be jailed up to seven years and fined or caned.
